Abstracts:

The professional training of teachers should be in the very center of the educational policy of each country, since teachers’ competence is one of the major factors that affect the level of students’ educational achievements. Therefore, it is of paramount importance to have qualified teachers to enable the design of various teaching scenarios and the implementation of modern technologies that would enable students to acquire knowledge and develop competences required for a healthy and sustainable life in the 21st century. In order to determine how and to what extent biology teachers are trained for the application of ICT technologies in the teaching process, and especially E-learning within the Moodle system, pilot research was carried out on a sample of 65 Biology teachers of Split-Dalmatia County. The results obtained display the situation in teaching Biology and will be used as a stimulus for critical consideration and the transformation of the education of future teachers, as well as for the further professional development of practicing teachers of Biology.
